This page lists cases where a "writ in acceleration" has been issued, summoning a peer's eldest son to the House of Lords during his father's lifetime, under one of his father's subsidiary titles, usually (and always in this list) a barony. Thus the "acceleration" is of the descent of the barony. Appendix G to Volume 1 of The Complete Peerage lists 94 cases between 1482 and 1896. The following list includes the last 32 of those, together with four 20th-century cases. The date of the writ, given in the left-hand column, links to the online PDF of the relevant page of the London Gazette. The dates are taken from the House of Lords Journals (where the terms of the writ are given on the occasion of the peer's introduction) and from the Crown Office Docket Books in the National Archives at Kew (series C 231).
